Running updates

December 2nd, 2007

I’ve waited close to a month for my US Half results, but it still isn’t there. I emailed them and was informed that they had technical difficulties, that their timing devices broke. I complained and requested for a refund. Yet, I have still not heard back from them. It’s doubtful that I will ever receive the official results or a refund…

For unofficial results, according to my own watch, I finished in 1:56:28 which is a 8:53 pace. Yay!

The running has definitely paid off, but with consequences. My left shin hurts a lot. In the past month, I have shortened my running but it still hurts. I probably need more rest. This weekend, I am running part of the “Trail of Tears” with my coworkers which is about an 8 mile run that is over 50% hills. It’ll be tough… I hope that my leg will be okay by then…

US Half Marathon

October 18th, 2007

US Half MarathonMy company is sponsoring us to run the US Half Marathon. There are three kinds of races: 1) Half marathon, 2) 12k and 3) 5k. I will be running another half marathon. I’m excited. This time around, I’ll train more; I’m going to try for a 20 mile week program: 7-5-3-5 or 3-10-3-5. Wish me luck!

I finished! 2:00:10

October 17th, 2007

Last Sunday, I finished the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon. It was a good run. I finished faster than I expected. I was hoping to run a 10 minute pace and finish around 2:10. Instead, I finished in 2:00:10 with a pace of 9:10! I am pretty satisfied with the results but think I could had done better if I sprinted toward the finish line or picked up my pace in the last mile. NEXT YEAR, I WILL DO BETTER!

Faster, stronger!

September 30th, 2007

Back on August 4th, my personal best for Lake Merritt was 23:27. Fast forward to today, I got 22:58. Over the past two months, I have improved by 29 seconds. It’s not a huge improvement, but I am happy that I’m faster now. I hope that one day, I can run it in the 19s like the good old days.

Photoshop Magic

September 29th, 2007

I was looking through some old work this evening and found some things that I liked. All of these works were done in photoshop. There were lots of masking, and color correction involved. Masking and color correction is a bit hard to do sometimes, but it’s great for creating striking compositions.

Below are two mastheads that I created in photoshop. This was for the InSite Vision website. I actually, retouched all the mastheads in the site and created a few. It was a fun thing to do.

I like how this one turned out, it looks quite real imho. I remember using the clone and stamp tool, drawing in lines, and shading to make it look authentic.

This one turned out pretty well too. I remember having a difficult time color adjusting it because it was originally on a black background making everything too dark and throwing off the lighting.

mma award

This was a photoshop render of an award that we won for one of our websites. Originally, we tried to find a nice photograph of the award and take our own, but it didn’t turn out so well. In the end, I had to make this instead.

Lastly, these are some buttons that I created for the Aryx website. Most of these buttons were created using assets from their library. The only button that did not utilize any of their files is the top left one. For that one, I had to create the red blood cells from scratch and draw the little guy.
